Graham Greene’s "TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT"
adapted for the stage by Giles Havergal - Vienna English Theatre....
Giles Havergal’s ingenious and celebrated stage adaptation of Graham Greene’s comic novel challenges a cast of four actors to bring to life over twenty-four characters. First performed in 1989, this tour-de-force play went on to be a West End hit winning an Olivier Award and continues to be staged internationally to great acclaim.
When retired bank manager and dahlia enthusiast, Henry Pulling, meets his long lost bohemian Aunt Augusta at his mother’s funeral, he has no idea of the whirlwind of adventures that lie ahead of him. The 75-year-old decides to save her repressed nephew from his dull suburbian existence and pulls him along on her exotic journeys full of unexpected intrigue. Encountering numerous flamboyant, eccentric and mysterious characters along the way to Paris, Istanbul and Paraguay, Henry unearths all sorts of secrets about his aunt and himself, including his desire to live more adventurously.
